Calgary Young People’s Theatre
Calgary Young People’s Theatre has the pleasure of working with youth ages 4 to 18 all year round through camps, classes and productions. Currently we are offering our beloved Act 4 class at CKE for youth in grades 5 & 6.
This class builds on basic drama skills, but also offers more advanced training for older students. Various techniques will be explored such as intermediate improvisation, voice and movement, characterization, scene development and much more. In both Fall and Winter terms there will be a final presentation showcasing your child’s talent and all the new abilities they have acquired. No prior experience in theatre is necessary – All abilities are welcome!

CKE Pickleball
This action-packed sport combines elements of badminton, tennis and ping-pong. Players will use solid paddles and a wiffle-like ball, while playing on a badminton-sized court. It is a low-impact, high energy sport and the rules are very easy to learn.
Indoor Pickleball Program
The CKE Indoor Pickleball Program will be starting soon! The program runs from October through to May. The Indoor Pickleball Program is for CKE pickleball players of all skill levels and is intended to be recreational, otherwise known as ‘social play’. We have limited indoor capacity and the Indoor Pickleball Program is for CKE Residents only. Current CKE Community Membership is required.
The first session runs Monday October 2 to Friday December 29,, 2023. Please note, if the conditions are still good, we will likely continue playing outdoors until the snow flies!
Program Times
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings with two sessions each day: 9:00 – 10:30 am and 10:30 am – 12:00 pm.
- Each session is limited to 6 participants.
- Weekly sign-ups are facilitated through SignUpGenius.
- Participation in a WhatsApp Group Chat is encouraged to communicate with other members in the Program.
If registration numbers warrant it, we will arrange additional sessions from 12:00 – 1:30 pm on Mondays and/or Wednesdays.
Program Fees – October to December Session
- To play 1 session/week $60
- To play 2 sessions/week $120
We have limited space to register as an Alternate. Alternates may sign-up to play once a week only after regular players have signed-up and if spaces remain on the schedule. Cost is $30.
We encourage participants to be realistic about how often they can commit to playing during the week.

To register, email Jen at ckecourts@gmail.com and indicate if you would like to play 1 or 2 sessions/week or if you would like to sign up as an Alternate. Jen will confirm space is available and then ask you to e-transfer the appropriate program fee.

Run.Jump.LEAD! Mom & Me Yoga
New this winter, Run.Jump.LEAD!’s Mom & Me Yoga series will bring moms and their daughters together using a holistic approach to connection and movement. Taught by yoga specialist, Rachel Groen, this program offers a unique opportunity to slow down, create space and awareness, and prioritize special bonding time in a relaxed setting.
Through guided practice you’ll explore both standing and seated postures, flow sequences, dynamic breathing and relaxation activities, and some coveted 1:1 time.
Classes are designed for self-identified girls ages 7-12 and moms/other significant female role models. All levels are welcome.

City of Calgary – All Wheels Skatepark
The CKE Skatespot offers a safe and active social space for people of all ages to connect with others, exercise in, and practice their skill! Obstacles include a quarter pipe, curved ledge, ledge/manny pad with wedge, flatbar with landscape flat gap, bank, and a flat ledge.
To help keep the park safe and clean, a locked supply box equipped with cleaning and maintenance supplies is located at the park. This initiative relies on “key holders” from the skate community to help keep the park clean and free of debris. If you are interested in being a key holder, please contact Calgary Association of Skateboarding Enthusiasts (CASE) – chair@calgaryskateboarding.com.
