This action packed sport combines elements of badminton, tennis and ping-pong. Players will use solid paddles and a wiffle-like ball, while playing on a badminton-sized court. It is a low impact, high energy sport and the rules are very easy to learn.

Soccer is Back!
Springtime in Calgary brings bright sunshine, clear blue skies, and lots of little legs kicking soccer balls across our green fields! Join in on spring soccer so your kids stay active and make friends all at the same time!
Heritage Soccer is a recreational soccer league for children aged 3 to 12 from the communities of CKE, Haysboro, Kingsland, Fairview, Mayfair, Bel Aire, Southwood and Meadowlark Park.
The league will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from May 17 to June 24, 2021 on Chinook Park School fields.
*Please note the last day to register online for soccer is April 7. Each child can choose one friend and that friend must reciprocate on their register form.
Because teams’ size will be reduced (COVID restrictions dictate that teams will have no more than 10 people – so 8 kids and 2 adults ) we will need even more coaches this year than other years! PLEASE consider coaching! No experience required.
If we don’t have enough coaches, we cannot run this program. If you’ve already registered, you can edit your registration and fill out a ‘coach registration’. Let us know if you have questions!
Note: You must have a current community membership to register your kids.
Spring is just around the corner and it is one of my favourite times of year in CKE. It is wonderful to see neighbours walking their kids to school, preparing their gardens, and taking time to enjoy the fresh air and reconnect after a long winter!
This March brings our annual, and very popular, flower fundraiser, brought to us by Growing Smiles Fundraising Flowers. Their relentless focus on quality is what brings them back year after year. All proceeds of the sale go to the CKE Community Association, and we are thankful for your support! Details are available on the website. It is also the beginning of gardening season! Our community gardens are such a great place to grow food, flowers, and friendships. There are still a few boxes available for rent this spring! If you are interested, please contact Sonja at sonja_ firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is also the time our neighbours register kids for Heritage Soccer – an important community program that we are hoping to bring back this year. Please stay tuned for updates and registration details on our website. If you have questions regarding soccer, or want to volunteer, you can email CKEheritagesoccer@gmail.com.
Looking ahead to the spring, we would love to recruit additional members for the CKE Community Association Board. If you have any interest, please reach out. For more information, you can contact any of us at email@example.com. This is a great opportunity to give back and help shape the future of the CKE.
Stay well, stay safe, and stay in touch!
CKE CA President
October 19, 2020 | News
Each year, at our AGM, the community association recognizes an individual or group who consistently participates in making our community a great place to live.
We are lucky to live in a community with so many volunteers willing to take roles of responsibility in our CA. This year the board selected Chris Doyle as the recipient of the award.
Chris joined the board in 2012 as Traffic director and quickly worked up the ranks to Vice President and on be President from 2014-2016. He is retiring and rounding out is 8 years with the board as the Secretary.
During these 8 years he met the challenges and the growing pains of the old hall while the fundraising began to build the new one.
Always game to participate and support the fundraising ideas he was game to play Marty McFly for the Back to the Future themed Wine and Whiskey, ride a tricycle in one of the videos that went viral in the neighbourhood and even step up to play dunk the president at the yearly fall BBQ in the water dunk tank.
These were more of the fun moments during his reign…some of the more contentious and less than fun moments were the BRT project, the Bantrel threat and the challenging hall build. All of which he met with integrity and with the best interest of the community in mind.
Chris has spent hours and hours volunteering on CKE projects and all to the benefit of the community. He took each role he had on the board seriously and was committed to them. Board members always went to him to get answers, guidance and governance as he is such a strong leader and has the ability to look at a situation from all sides and with great clarity.
Under Chris’ stewardship and in the 8 years of him being on the board, a few success to be mentioned are:
~ Approved and voted in the skate spot
~ Upgraded the rink rat tractor
~ Raised 2 Million dollars to build a new hall
~ Building the new hall and the lifecycle of that project
~ Rebuild the garden
~ Replaced the tennis courts
A big thank you to Chris for his years devoted to CKE and for his dedication to bettering the community.
You leave behind a legacy of work you should be proud of and one that the community is very grateful and appreciate of.
If you see them in the community be sure to congratulate our 2020 CKE Community Builder Award winner!
