54th CKE Annual General Meeting

Posted by admin

It was great to see such a terrific turnout for our 54th Annual General Meeting on May 18th. Thanks to everyone who joined us.

I am looking forward to serving as President again for another year. Three new directors joined the board this year; Harry Shaepsmeyer (garden), Ethan Sears (social) and Dan Kennelly (director-at-large).

I want to thank them for putting their names forward and standing for positions this year. I also want to thank Georgie Islip, Melissa Kuehner and Wendy Kennelly who are stepped down this year after several years on the board. They all made significant contributions during their time on the board, and will remain engaged in our community I’m sure.

Wendy will continue her work on the Capital Campaign Committee helping us reach our fundraising target for the new hall.

Designs for the new hall were on display in the skate shack, and Tony Messer, Phil Johnson, and Tony Casola were on hand to answer questions. If you haven’t had a chance to see the new designs by Casola Koppe, be sure to check them out on our webpage.

This year, Del Bylsma was the recipient of our Community Builder Award. Del is a long time resident of Kelvin Grove and has been a committed volunteer in our community. In addition to having served on the CA board, she has been a regular volunteer at community events. Currently, Del helps out our communications team, looking after the bold sign.

Councillor Brian Pincott also attended and gave us an update after the meeting on things going on in Ward 11. These included; the City’s work in helping residents of Fort McMurray displaced by the fire, the new pedestrian overpass planned at 61st avenue linking the Chinook C-train station to Chinook Mall, and the SW BRT discussions currently before committee at city council.

Lastly, please take a moment to see the impact and the great work of our CKE volunteers in our community>>
